The organisers of the 44th Brass in Concert Championship, to be held in association with Yamaha, Banks Group and World of Brass at Sage Gateshead on Saturday 20 November, have announced that the draw will be made at Ringway Primary School in Sheepwash, Northumberland, on Monday 21 June.

Children in the School's Brass Mini Band will make the draw, which will be shown live on Facebook from 3.30pm. They will also give a short performance displaying the skills they have acquired since moving on from the whole class baritone project in which they started. Ringway Primary School has been involved in the Youth Music-funded Ashington to Bedlington Building Brass project for the past five years and pupils from the school have also attended Brass in Concert during that time.

The Brass in Concert Championship, featuring ten leading bands performing 23minute programmes and introduced by the inimitable Frank Renton, will start at the later-than-normal time of 12.50pm, with the results announcement scheduled for 9.30pm on the Saturday evening. The participants are:

Brighouse and Rastrick
Carlton Main Frickley Colliery
Cory
Flowers
Foden’s
Friary
Grimethorpe Colliery
Hammonds
NASUWT
Riverside
Tredegar

In order to assist with their transport arrangements, for this year only the bands involved in Youth Brass in Concert have agreed collectively to perform in order of distance from the venue, so the pre-arranged order will be:

1. Houghton Area Youth
2. Elland Silver Youth
3. Lions Youth Brass
4. Enderby Youth
5. Youth Brass 2000

Brass in Concert Chairman, David Bennett, commented: "We are grateful to the youth bands for the co-operation they have shown in making it as economical and logistically easy for them all to appear in what we are sure will be a great event at Sage Gateshead this November. We would also like to think the staff and pupils of Ringway Primary School for their help in making the draw for the 44th Brass in Concert Championships and look forward to hearing them live on the Internet on Monday!

The draw for the 2021 Brass in Concert Championships will be live on https://www.facebook.com/brassinconcert
