Hammonds Are Delighted to Welcome Claire Chalk to the Band.

The Hammonds Band are delighted to announce the signing of Claire Chalk on Solo Cornet.

Claire has had a few years away from banding but really enjoyed her debut contest performance with the band at the British Open, followed by a successful performance at the National Finals.

Claire began playing with the Jayess Junior Band, where she worked her way up through the ranks to holding the Principal Cornet in the Senior Band, Jayess Queensbury Band. Upon a move over to Manchester, Claire joined the Glossop Old Band on Principal Cornet, a position she held for many years before she then joined the Ashton-under-Lyne Band on Principal Cornet and yet again holding this position for 10 years!

Upon her appointment Claire said, “I have really enjoyed playing with Hammonds at the British Open and National Finals and I am really looking forward to playing with the band under Morgan’s leadership!”

On Claire’s appointment Morgan Griffiths, Musical Director of the Hammonds Band, commented, “I’m absolutely delighted to be welcoming Claire to the band. She is a wonderful player and another great signing for the band.”
