Famous Name Returns to Huddersfield to Salute Youth Brass
The famous brass banding name of Hammonds makes a welcome return to Huddersfield after a fifteen year absence. The Hammonds Saltaire Band will be appearing with the Sellers International Youth Band at the Christian Fellowship Church at Cathedral Place just off Chapel Hill Road. The two bands have forged closed links over the past year and present a concert that will showcase some of the most talented players around. The title of the concert is Salute to Youth, as well as being a tribute to the young players of the Sellers International Youth it refers to a favourite work for lovers of brass band music. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the much loved Brass Band composer Gilbert Vinter. Salute to Youth is a 12 minute work that was composed by Vinter and has become a favourite with bands all over the world. The piece will used at the Yorkshire Regional qualifiers at Bradford in March to decide which Yorkshire bands represent the region at the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall later this year.
